Mixing is the process of combining multiple audio tracks into a stereo format, which involves adjusting the levels, panning, equalization, compression, and other effects to create a balanced and cohesive sound. The goal of mixing is to make sure that all the elements of a song or a piece of music work together and sound good together, and to create a final mix that reflects the artistic vision of the producer, artist, or band.
Mastering, on the other hand, is the final step in the audio production process, where the mixed stereo audio is processed and prepared for distribution. Mastering includes processing the audio for a consistent sound and volume level across different playback systems, such as speakers, headphones, and different digital devices. This can involve applying equalization, compression, limiting, and other processing to enhance the sound quality, and adding metadata and track sequencing for the final release. The goal of mastering is to create a final product that sounds great and meets the technical requirements of the intended distribution format.
In short, mixing is the process of combining individual tracks into a cohesive whole, while mastering is the process of preparing the final mix for distribution. Both mixing and mastering are critical components of the audio production process, and each requires a specific skill set and attention to detail to achieve the best possible sound quality.
Mastering is an essential step in the audio production process that can greatly enhance the sound quality of your music. It can make your songs sound more polished, cohesive, and professional, and improve their overall loudness and clarity. Mastering can also ensure that your music sounds great on a wide range of playback systems and meets the technical requirements of the intended distribution format.
Our services are all done fully remote, with the artist or producer uploading their files to a dropbox folder that is sent out once the initial deposit has been made. We will then do an initial mix with the stems and communicate with the artist or producer over to get feedback and make revisions. Once the mix and master are complete, the final files can be downloaded and used for distribution.
When your project is completed, you will receive 2 files: a high quality MP3 and a WAV file of the mixed and/or mastered song.
We will not send a copy of the final session file for the song, but we can send the individual stems of your project at extra cost.
In general, mixing one song takes 2-3 business days and mastering one song takes 1-2 business days. This does depend on our current work load, so please speak to us about the timeline before purchasing so we can discuss the details.
Once the mix/master is completed, you will be sent download links to your email.
You have 30 days from the date you receive the initial mix to request as many changes as you like to your mix.
Most other engineers will charge you for extra rounds of revisions, but not us. We want you to be 100% happy with the final product.
We usually will have your changes made and sent to you within 1-2 days after receiving them.
